‘Sigwa‘ movie is an official entry to Cinemalaya 2010 .An indie film helmed by the multi-awarded director, Joel Lamangan.Featuring a powerhouse cast, which stars Zsa Zsa Padilla, Tirso Cruz III, Gina Alajar, Jim Pebanco, Marvin Agustin, Allen Dizon, Pauleen Luna, Lovi Poe, Megan Young, Jay Aquitania, Rico Barrera, Ayen Laurel and Ms. Dawn Zulueta.

Each stars reliving the untold stories in the First Quarter Storm of 1970 while standing up against the Marcos dictatorship.In an interview director Joel Lamangan elaborated “It is important for the world to know the sacrifices made by the youth who fought the Marcos regime and won the democracy we now enjoy. This film is dedicated to the heroes of the First Quarter Storm.”

Sigwa is slated to compete at the Digital Cinema section of the Cairo International Film Festival in November and will be screened in the Brussels Independent Film Fest.A film that was given a grade of “A” by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).Just few of the reasons why you should watch this film!

The indie film “Sigwa” is going to have a special screening at Davao City, in commemoration of the Declaration of Martial Law and the First Quarter Storm.Initiatives for Peace in Mindanao (InPeace), Exodus for Justice and Peace (EJP) and Kyabaan Association, Inc (KAI) are hosting the viewing of the Cinemalaya Film Sigwa in Davao City.

There will be a community viewing on September 19, 2010 tentatively set at the Almendras Gym. The film will go on school tours from September 20 -22, 2010. And the Gala Viewing will be on September 20, 2010, 12 nn, at the Gaisano Mall of Davao VIP Cinema. Tickets to the gala viewing are set at PhP 150 and PhP 300.
