The MMFF 2010 Awards has been really a controversial event. This is because Jennylyn Mercado and Albert Martinez didn’t bagged away the Best Actress and Best Director awards, respectively during Metro Manila Film Festival 2010 Gabi ng Parangal. To make it worse, they wasn’t even nominated. And that’s precisely what irked her fans and (obviously most of the people) who saw potential of Jennylyn’s acting in the movie Rosario. Not that Ai Ai Delas Alas doesn’t deserve to win the best actress award but the thought that Jennylyn wasn’t even nominated is obviously unfair in one respect.

Here’s the official statement of Jennylyn Mercado about the MMFF Awards Controversy.

Official Statement of Jennylyn Mercado for the recently concluded 2010 MMFF Awards

I gave my best for this movie and I felt disappointed na hindi ko na-meet ang criteria ng jurors ng MMFF. I know that this will help me to become more mature as a person and as an actress. I sincerely accept my defeat, and in time, makakalimutan ko din po ito. I realized that the appreciation that the people gave for the movie is already rewarding in itself. I am really grateful to those people who supported me and the movie. This will be my last statement, and sana po matapos na yung mga issues na lumalabas regarding the MMFF awards. Patuloy po ninyong suportahan ang Rosario. Salamat po.”
