Solid acting, metaphorical lines, intense gun and fistfights, superb cinematography – those are the characteristics of a good Pinoy Action movie. But for almost one decade, Philippine cinema had lost its action leg and struggled over the years while Mainstream severed its wound by producing superficial commercialized comedy movies.
But Viva Films had always dreamed of reviving what was once considered a gem in Philippine Cinema. Notwithstanding the overrated exchange of metaphors between the hero and villain, the predictable and recycled revenge gangster stories, Filipino action films can sometimes pull off a decent story. Gone are the days were action films are rejoiced but here comes the movie which aims to revive what was once lost.
Scenema Concept International and Viva Films, comes with their Metro Manila Film Fest entry “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story “. The movie is a biopic based on the life of Nicasio Rodriguez Salonga, more notoriosly known as Asiong Salonga who was public enemy number one during his time.
