If you’re wondering about the ticket sales of Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme then here’s a box office update for you. Kimmy Dora 2 has currently been in the talks of everybody for the entertainment it gives but the overall movie was either totally unforgettable, so-so and didn’t seemed as critically acclaimed as the first film. A proof that a big budget doesn’t always help (see: Star Cinema, Mainstream, etc).
Courtesy of Box Office Mojo Philippines, Star Cinema’s comedy flick starring Eugene Domingo, Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme earns Php 46,331,231 (US $1 = 41.9902 Philippines Peso) topping the June 13 – 17, 2012 Philippines Box Office Chart. On the second spot is Snow white and the Huntsman which was on its 3rd week, followed by the critically acclaimed hollywood cleverly entertaining films Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted and Prometheus. On the fifth spot is the musical Rock and Ages while GMA Films’ Boy Pick Up the Movie on the 6th spot with a box office gross of P21.86 million for 2 weeks.
Lockout, MIB 3 and the Star Cinema romance film “Born To Love You” which grossed0 P51.32 million in 3 weeks. The top 10 box office movies for the aforementioned week ends with the French film “Special Forces”.
Going through this list, we can conclude two traditional locally-flavored arguments/understatements! Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme is a box office success and GMA Films’ Boy Pick Up the Movie is a flop.
