The remake of “Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang” movie boasts of an epic concept and the brains of Jerrold Tarog (Aswang,  Senior Year) and Chris Martinez ( Temptation Island, I Do Bidoo Bidoo). And it is quite unfortunate for us to not see this breather during the Metro Manila Film Festival.

The Studio 5 produced family fantasy movie was pulled out of the Metro Manila Film Festival list because of time constraints in post-production as the film requires computer generatic graphics and special effects. Even Director Chris Martinez showed his disappointment towards the producers’ unexpected decision.

Additionally, Martinez revealed that the producers have bigger plans for the project next year and they hinted that the episodes “Mariang Alimango” (Directed by Martinez) and “Pedrong Walang Takot” (Directed by Tarog) may be released separately as full-length movies.

Ang Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang will, however, be replaced by the famously rejected Brillante Mendoza film “Thy Womb” which stars Nora Aunor, Bembol Roco and Lovi Poe.

Ohh..dear! I’m sad that they had to pull out Mga Kwento Ni Lola Basyang. I feel happy about Thy Womb getting an MMFF slot though!
