The Vice Ganda, Toni Gonzaga and Luis Manzano movie “This Guy’s In Love With You Mare” raked a whooping P23-Million on its opening day,Oct. 10, 2012 Wednesday according to Star Cinema.

We made P23 million on the first day of ‘This Guy’s In Love With You Mare.’ To God be the glory,” Mico del Rosario, advertising and promotions manager of Star Cinema, told earlier today.

Later on was a follow up by Luis Manzano who tweeted “23M for the first day ng #ThisGuysInLoveWithYouMare !! Wow!! Thank you guys! Panoorin niyo ulit magsama pa kayo! 🙂 – @luckymanzano on twitter.

From the way it looks “This Guy’s In Love With You Mare” is likely to become yet another phenomenal box office hit. However, they may not get to reach their P400-million aim because the film fell P2-million short of what Star Cinema’s The Mistress grossed during it’s opening day. I know that’s a little too less for a threat but you can sum-up the fact that The Mistress took a whole month before it was able to reach the P300-Million mark. Also, the first day box office gross of “This Guy’s In Love With U Mare” is slightly lower than “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin” which opened at P23.9-million in the box office last year.

Despite all that we are still expecting the movie to reach the P100-million mark for the first week. And just like other Star Cinema films, raves and reviews can do so much for the film’s box office success. Okay fine, but mostly because of their nonstop and annoying TV marketing. Fortunately, people who have seen it yesterday are raving for the movie’s humor. It can be noted that comedian Vice Ganda reassured that this movie is doubly if not triply funnier than Praybeyt Benjamin.

“Kung nakakatawa ‘yung ‘Praybeyt Benjamin’ tatlong beses ito talaga, promise nakakatawa talaga. Sabi ko sa kanila kung di kayo matatawa dito sa ‘This Guy’s In Love With You Mare’ i-unfollow niyo na ako sa Twitter, promise. Kampante talaga ako, promise,” Vice Ganda said.

But more than the humor, early reviews from critics say that “This Guy’s In Love With You Mare” is actually and surprisingly worth a try. In Click The City, Film critic Philbert Ortiz Dy gave the film a 4-star rating.

“There’s a subversive streak to it, offering audiences portrayals of non-traditional relationships that aren’t really any different from the ones usually offered to them in cinemas. It’s unusually progressive in a national genre that has stuck to formula and repetition for the last decade. I still have reservations about some of the craft of the picture, but the film might be worth seeing for its boldness alone. ” – Philbert Dy (Click Here to Read Rest of the Review)

With that review alone I’m still skeptical about seeing it. Although I need to because I’m sure you’ll be coming back in here to check out my review right? 🙂 If the movie will get more favorable critical reception then I believe this film well deserves to be the highest grossing film of all time than the current which is the ever-awful Praybeyt Benjamin.

Have you seen the movie? How was it?
