Movie adaptations of TV Shows usually exists because of a huge cult following and Philippine Cinema is very familiar with that. If we go back into time we have John en Marsha, Home Along Da Riles, Ang TV: The Movie, Pera O Bayong and Gimik as successful film adaptations under the sub-genre. Although it’s far from becoming a trend we notice that there are a few notable productions of movies which concepts were taken from their respective TV shows recently.

Early this year we had “Boy Pick Up The Movie” from a segment in the hit TV gag show “Bubble Gang” not to mention its predecessor “Yaya and Angelina The Spoiled Brat Movie” which was released in 2009. And before the year ends, Apt Entertainment together with MZET TV Production presents ‘D Kilabots Pogi Brothers Weh!?’ which is, though, not entirely based on a TV show or segment but still a product of a TV concept.

D’ Kilabots movie is starring the comic duo of Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola together with Pokwang who is getting recognized not only as a comedienne but also a well respected actress. In fact, of all the local comediennes she has the most number of movies this year where she topbills in two ( A Mother’s Story, The Mommy Returns) together with her solid supporting acts in The Healing,  24/7 in Love and eventually this film.

Also joining in the trifecta of comedians in the country is the other damsel of the story Solenn Heussaff. Other cast members includes Paolo Ballesteros probably on his most preferred character, Jimmy Santos, Diego, Mosang and Ms. Gina Pareño, with the special participation of Tirso Cruz III and Michael De Mesa.

The story is quite simple. It revolves around brothers Justine (Jose Manalo) and Bruno (Wally Bayola) who share a common love interest (the character played by Pokwang). Unfortunately to Justine, Pokwang’s character eventually marries Bruno which lead to Justin becoming bitter and a ‘woman hater’ even when the beauteous balikbayan character played by Solenn Heussaff falls madly in love with him.

From the director who brought us “Ded Na Si Lolo” and “The Adventures of Pureza: Queen of The Riles”, Soxie Topacio helms D’ Kilabots Pogi Brothers…Weh!?. The movie is slated for a Nov.28, 2012 release! 🙂
