From the acclaimed director of the award-winning film “Busong (Palawan Fate)” comes another mystic tale featuring the beauty and serenity of Palawan. Baybayin The Palawan Script is a brainchild of Auraeus Solito which competes in the Cinema One Plus section of the 2012 Cinema One Originals Film Festival.
The movie is about two half-sisters who fell in love with a man who can’t hear and speak to them – proof that love can speak even in Silence. Their only way of communication is the Baybayin, an ancient Palawanon script. Their love grows amidst the silences and letters in the pristine coasts of Palawan.
Just like Busong, the story is woven along with other subplots which this time involves an anthropologist, government soldiers, shamans and tourists. According to director Auraeus Solito during a press conference, Baybayin is part of his “Palawan trilogy,” which he considers as a “trilogy of thought and philosophy.”
The movie is starring Alessandra de Rossi, Assunta de Rossi and Adrian Sebastian with Ruby Moreno, Mon Confiado, Sue Prado and Olivier Borten.
I don’t have much to say about Baybayin except that it’s a promising film that celebrates our culture. How I wish I lived in Manila so that I could watch Baybayin along with the other entries of Cinema One Originals. lol
