The brilliant Filipino filmmaker behind classics Boatman and (I dare say) Segurista makes his official return to Philippine Cinema or should I say ‘film industry‘ after facing issues from his supposed movie Manila Kingpin with a new film entitled EL BRUJO. Tikoy Aguiluz’s new movie will be an action fantasy film that will breathe a new life to the ‘Agimat‘ concept by making the characters more powerful because of sorcery.
This should hit theaters a bit later this year because the director has also started a new film entitled ‘Sugo’ and he’s having a hard time working with the schedules of his lead stars. Looks like 2013 is going to be a fun year for the industry! If this will push through we will have three pinoy action films this year. Erik Matti’s OTJ, El Brujo and an untitled Studio 5 produced action period movie (probably for MMFF2013) starring Derek Ramsay which the actor revealed to us in an interview.
With all seen Aguiluz’ craftsmanship in the making of Manila Kingpin so there’s no doubt this will be one heck of a visual powerhouse. And not just that! Unlike the Agimat movie which was poisoned by the comedy angle of Enteng and box office viability of special effects, El Brujo promises serious fantasy action and a better story for everyone!
El Brujo (The Sorcerer) this indie film is starring Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca and Bangs Garcia.
