After winning the best actress award of Cinema One Originals, former Survivor Philippines castaway will star again in an indie film and it’s for the biggest edition of Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. Under the directorial hand of Alvin Yapan (Ang Sayaw Ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa), Mara Lopez will pair-up with Kapamilya actor Paulo Avelino (Aswang) in this movie named Debosyon.

Mara will be playing the role of a mysterious lass named Salome and Paulo Avelino is Mando who will fall in love with the woman who helped her get out of the forest. It is set in the rustic beauty of Bicol, in fact, writer-director Alvin Yapan fully used the Rinconada Bikol which he’s had in the film ‘Gayuma‘. But unlike Gayuma which was mystified by a dark element, actress Mara Lopez shared in an interview with that while it is not a typical love story it’s a must-see if you want to fall in love over and over again. She even quoted, “To love is to have faith.”

Like Cinemalaya entryThe Diplomat Hotel‘, Debosyon movie is backed by Alemberg Ang. The 9th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival will be held within a 10-day run showcasing new indie films from July 26 to August 4, 2013 at the CCP theaters, Trinoma, and Greenbelt Cinemas.
