There isn’t any mainstream flick to get excited about this year except ‘It Takes A Man and A Woman’ and ‘On The Job’. In fact, I may not be able to list my top 10 most anticipated mainstream pinoy movies this year. The indie scene has a lot to offer this year though and thinking about it, why don’t I make a list for it instead.
But anyway, I got my hands to a list of the 12 confirmed pinoy mainstream movies you might want to see this year.
1.) A Moment In Time – The opening salvo of all mainstream pinoy movies. It stars Julia Montes and Coco Martin.
2.) Must Be…Love – This movie proved to be a success despite everything that has come out against it. Be it the incessant social media marketing strategy of Star Cinema or the haters of the leads Kathyrn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. Watch this if you like watching PBB Teeeens!
3.) My Lady Boss – A film you may have heard years ago as the reunion project of Marian Rivera and Richard Gutierrez. Lacks marketing! But anyway, I just hope Marian and Chard still has a good number of followers. lelz. This sounds like a good film but I didn’t like Jade Castro’s My Kontrabida Girl. I love his Zombadings movie – haven’t seen Endo and didn’t like much My Big Love either – but I might give this a try.
4.) Kung Fu Divas – It will be shot in green Screen again! Sounds interesting. But if it’s going to be just another showdown between two rivals then ugh. . . I don’t know. This movie stars Marian Rivera and Ai Ai delas Alas. Refreshing team up and it’s good that no Wenn Deramas is present to direct this Ai-ai starrer.
5.) Raketeros – the so ‘The Hangover’ version of the Philippines but isn’t actually about hangover but about the hang ups and funny moments in everyday life of a ‘boy group’.
6.) Nagalit Ang Buwan Sa Haba Ng Gabi – Sounds interesting given all the titles to Filipino films are in english. They’re probably having a hard time translating the title into english? Hmmm..The Moon Got Bad Because the Night is Long? The Moon was Angered by the Length of the Night? Whatever. The movie stars Andi Eigenmann, Cristine Reyes, Alice Dixson, Dina Bonnevie and Gabby Concepcion.
7.) The Bride and the Lover – This is a misstep given that other production outfits and the filipino people have grown tired to mistress films. But Regal wants to give it a try by casting Lovi Poe, Jennylyn Mercado, Paulo Avelino and Hayden Kho. They should have just gone with the sequel of Aswang.
There’s just 7 (seven) for now but allow me to tease you of titles ‘Oh My Mamma Mia’, ‘Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy’, My ‘Bromance’ and ‘Coming Soon’. Yes, there’s a movie called ‘Coming Soon’ and it’s a barkada movie. All of which I’m gonna blog about soon!
Please share this list fo pinoy movies 2013! 🙂
