The first genre film festival in the country, Davao Ngilngig Films, which features the strange, fantastic and the macabre has finally come to an end. The festival had its run at SM Lanang Premier and Cinematheque Davao from Oct. 27 to Oct. 31, 2017. The festival was opened by the Cebuano horror film “Lily” which stars Shaina Magdayao and Rocky Salumbides.

For three days the event kept on with the theatrical runs of Ngilngig short film submissions from all over the country. Davao Ngilngig Films 2017 was divided into three sections this year; Tales from Davao which featured davao-made horror films, Tales from the Region which featured submissions from other regions and Tales from the Camp showcasing the film outputs from the Ngilngig Film Camp last June.

A special screening of the Vietnamese splatter film “KFC” also became the highlight of the festival. And finally the festival closed with the found footage horror “SALVAGE” which stars Jessie Mendiola and JC De Vera. Present during the festival are the Jury Teng Mangansakan (Forbidden Memory), Keith Deligero (Lily) and Jarrel Serencio (Mga bitoon sa Siyudad) with special guest filmmakers Sherad Anthony Sanchez (Salvage) and Vietnamese Director Le Binh Giang (KFC).

Davao Ngilngig Films is organized by Pasalidahay spearheaded by Davao Ngilngig Festival Director Bagane Fiola (Baboy Halas).
